CAIHS Monday Morning Message

November 13, 2023

Mr. Maloney's Announcement's

Good Morning CAIHS Families,

A few quick and important announcements.

1. Students are not permitted to wear hoods or hats in school. We are starting to see a trend that when a student has the hood up and they are asked to take it down they are sometimes not complying with staff or starting to argue. This can't happen because it causes conflict and not to mention it is disrespectful to staff. Please remind your students of the rule and how they should treat staff and their fellow students.

2. Earbuds, tablets, and blankets are also not permitted and they should not have them on them in school.

Congratulations to the following students for the top students showing significant growth in their IXL math work!

  8. Jacai Wooward
  9. Stephen Carbo

Attendance Competition

Starting on today we are going to start an Attendance Competition for 1st Period. Each week we will post the results for classes who had the best percentage of students in class. Students who come late to school will negatively affect the percentage. The class with the best percentage will receive a pizza party and the competitions last day is December 22nd.

CPMC Flower Power Fundraising

Holiday Program; Oct. 18th – Dec. 15th

About Our Cause

Please join us in making a difference! We are raising money to benefit our music programs and any purchase you make will help make an impact. Examples of CPMC’s support to the music programs include—payment of instructor salaries, instrument and equipment purchases and repairs, purchasing props, music, truck rentals, food to feed the students at competitions, competition fees, cleaning uniforms, maintenance of “Big Red” the trailer that transports all of the band equipment, Drum Major Camp scholarships, and our CPMC Scholarship given to a graduating student planning to major in music in college. We want to give our students an opportunity to do these extracurricular activities like Marching Band, Indoor Guard, Indoor Drumline, Meistersingers and Orchestra without worry if we can. In a financial climate where school boards are cutting music programs across the country it is essential that we continue our hard work to ensure that the Red Raider Marching Band, Steel Spirit of Coatesville, Steel Thunder Drumline, Orchestra and Meistersingers can continue their award-winning traditions. In closing we would like to express that these are just a few of the things we have been able to do, and all the money raised goes to the students in some way, shape, or form. Thank you so very much from all of us involved, for your time and donation, it means so much to our group. http://cpmc.fpfundraising.com/

Important Health Information and Vaping Awareness

According to the American Lung Association, Teen tobacco use has long been linked to lifelong dependency, with 9 out of 10 cigarette users claiming they picked up their first cigarette before the age of 18. The introduction of e-cigarettes has amplified the problem: Over the course of just one year, vaping's popularity grew from 2.1 million in 2017 to 3.6 million in 2018, prompting the U.S. Surgeon General to declare e-cigarette use among our youth an epidemic. Teens are getting hooked on tobacco and instead of getting education or support, they are getting suspended from school or other disciplinary measures. INDEPTH® is a new way to help.

ATTENDANCE

Regular school attendance is imperative for success in school. If your child is absent from school, please email the reason for the excuse that includes the date and purpose of the absence. You can email these to our attendance office at CAIHSAttendance Students can also bring notes down to the attendance window located in the main office. Please see the attendance requirements for all students below.

  • If a student misses 18 days of school and/or 9 days in a semester, and/or misses the same class 18 times, and/or is habitually late to school, he/she will be required to have a School Attendance Improvement Plan (SAIP) meeting. From the meeting, the team will discuss the student’s attendance and make a potential recommendation for retention or being held back.

  • In order to receive credit, a student must attend 90% of his/her class days.

  • If a student misses more than 10 lawful or unlawful absences, requires an excuse from a licensed practitioner of the healing arts or medical doctor.

  • A student can be retained for failing to show academic achievement for promotion.

  • Retention or being held back shall only be considered for the worst-case scenarios and parents/guardians will be notified and a part of the process.
